Lorie and other members of the Desert Flames Ladies Auxiliary were helping serve lunches, hand out balloons and make bird feeders with the children.
Norris Wilkins from the Kern County Special Waste Facility had waste oil containers, used cartridge containers and other items free to the public.  The Webmaster left with an armload of treasures designed to protect the planet.  The first Saturday of the month is toxic roundup day at the Ridgecrest Landfill.  Auto fluids, batteries, cleaners, paint , pesticides and pool chemicals can be dropped off.  For more information check the Kern County Waste Management Department page.
Mr. Wong of the China Lake Fire Dept. escorted the children through the fire simulator trailer.
Sparky the Fire Dog was on the scene for kids like Little Junior Webmaster.
The Flames have really cool shirts.
Lucinda Sue Crosby from the Indian Wells Valley Water District has some excellent information on native plants, landscaping, xeriscape and water conservation.  The district office number is 375-5086.
Jan Moline and Valerie McLaughlin represented Cerro Coso Community College.
Starbuck's store manager Wendy had plenty of free Starbuck's coffee.
Valerie Cassity of Sequoia Forestkeeper had pamphlets and information about saving our forests.
The 2008 Community Earth Day Event Included a Youth Art Contest.

AltaOne was giving away bottled water and snacks at the event.
