Thank you gleaner volunteers for your assistance with this article.  The neighbor of the month for May will be selected soon.  The Neighbor of the Month can be anyone you know.  This could be that special person who always has a smile or kind word or is willing to help when you need a hand.  This honor will include a photo posted on this page and a caption or short biography.
Congratulations to very active senior Barbara Marshall for being selected Neighbor of the Month for April.  The April Neighbor of the month received a gift certificate from generous local business Country Feed Barn.  Barbara's name was first mentioned by Ron Zurn as an excellent candidate for Neighbor of the month.  Thanks to Ron and the Inyokern Chamber of Commerce for helping select our Neighbor of the Month for April.  Thank you Barbara for the sunshine you bring to Inyokern!

CONGRATULATIONS BARBARA MARSHAL
Barbara runs the Gleaners program at the Inyokern Senior Center and can be found volunteering to help with the Senior Nutrition Lunch Program.  Like a true selfless volunteer Barbara gave a long list of people she wanted to acknowledge and thank.

First Barbara wanted to mention her family.  Husband of forty-seven years Bill Marshall, son Eric Marshall, Daughter Sheryl Adams, son in law James Adams, and her four  grandchildren Rebecca & Katherine Adams and Kristina & Michelle Marshall.

Next she wished to thank Desert Senior Club members and Gleaners program helpers Kat Sat, Dennis Parrish, Barbi Portwood, Duane Powers, Wally Beckett and Mike Witt.

For more information about the Inyokern Gleaners program contact the Inyokern Senior Center.  Friday March 21st turned out to be a perfect day to take a photo of Barbara because I was able to catch the Gleaners crew in action:

Bob Ottenstein and Ed Trogdon drove the Golden Empire Gleaners truck from Bakersfield.

The Inyokern Senior Center Gleaner program provides food for both the Inyokern and Ridgecrest areas.
Our sense of Community is just one more reason for the smiles that make Inyokern the Sunshine Capital of America!
