Inyokern Rotary September 2008 Highlights
President of the Rotary Club of China Lake David Saint-Amand brought gifts to the September 9 meeting. Promising "big change from little change" the donation boxes will be placed at Inyokern businesses and the donations will go toward the world-wide effort to wipe out polio. Please help Rotary make big changes when you visit Bernardino's and Gateway Ace Hardware.
The Inyokern Rotary Club is also collecting donated dental care supplies including tooth brushes, toothpaste and floss. David has also enlisted help from the Tehachapi and Kern River Valley clubs in this joint effort.
Ed Jayne, Barbara Butler, Richard Middlemiss and Francy Bull. Honorary (careful how you say that!) Inyokern Rotary member Barbara Butler won the 50/50 drawing on September 16th.
The September 23rd meeting included a showing of an episode of "26 Men"
Also in attendance was visiting China Lake member Tony Magliari who recently attended his 60th high school reunion.
Kim Swett brought her father-in-law Darwin Swett to the September 30th meeting.
Forrest Lloyd gave the meeting presentation which was about the Intensive Care Unit that was donated to the Cancer Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Private donations, Rotary clubs, Assist International and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce made this possible. The unit is credited with saving the lives of 5 -10 children per month.
