12th Annual Moose Anderson Days
A circle of volunteers of all ages came to Jawbone Station to help with a variety of projects.
The volunteers were treated to a barbecue lunch provided by Kern County Sheriff Food Services Division.
Volunteers also received a Moose Anderson Days shirt from Friends of Jawbone.
Friends of Jawbone president Ed Waldheim & friends made sure everyone started off with a delicious hot breakfast of eggs, sausage and french toast.
The sign-up table is where pre-registered volunteers picked up their lunch ticket and Moose Anderson Days shirt along with a schedule of the weekend's events.
BLM outdoor recreation manager Craig Beck checks his notes as Ed Waldheim announces the departure times of the volunteer teams and the names of the team leaders.
Projects included:
Tamarisk removal Lead by Glenn Harris
Desert restoration Lead by Chas Robles
Boundary signing Lead by Sam Fitton
Jawbone Canyon clean-up Lead by Rob Enriquez
Dove Springs clean-up Lead by Randy Masner
Jawbone Station volunteer Bob Sosenik helped with information and lent a hand wherever it was needed.
Bob is full of information and a real pleasure to talk with.
Jawbone Canyon clean-up crew leader Rob Enriquez discusses the snake hazard and the possibility of dehydration and overheating.
This couple brought canine help with them from Ventura to help clean up our desert.
Rebecca and John Maddocks are from the So. Bay-Torrance area and are regular visitors to Jawbone. They always make it a point to pack out more than they bring and take care of their favorite riding area.
Individuals and groups from all over Southern California came to Jawbone Station to volunteer.
